Uhm call me an idiot , but i dont remember anyone mentioning about a
complete rewrite and official release of a completely different non
compatible version , what happened ? warning ?, this really throws a spanner
in the works now

a) all existing legacy code is redundant
b) none of the old widgets will work (throwing away 90% of Richards site and
many others hard work)
c) none of the doccenter is of any use as methods have completely changed
d) all current onsite examples are useless
e) any new users are going to be completely lost as complexity has increased
way above most users needs (needlessy imho)
f) the bug/patch center is all irellavent
g-z) numerous more complications i can't list at 7am

it seems like a hell of lot of work is going to go down the drain which
would be a shame as we had a working'ish model, just seems crazy to change
everything around when the advent of w3c dom only api's/browsers was nearly
upon us, i really enjoyed working with the current methods and options,
simple widgets and obj.timeout animation (without path animation fx bloat)
everything for me worked fine

Iam confused and feel somewhat leftout , i understand that a few tweaks
maybe was needed, but this seems like a completely different API , this
release just seems way too late by 9months, maybe it should be offered as a
paralell release for a few months but by then ns4 will nearly be history

a lot of critical changes have been made , making me think far more
seriously about ditching NS4 support entirely as at this stage (as dom
browsers are v common now and i could lose 90k of code) i don't think iam
prepared to learn (and port my widgets again) a whole new API that contains
legacy (ns4) code when i might as well learn a w3c dom compatible libary
(domapi/domlib/dhtmlib) and port my widgets to that, at least its lifetime
and structure is a bit more secure i feel, i really dont want to use flash
;), i dunno , iam confused.

can i engage a discussion on this ?

your thoughts
