The prognosis for anything Dynamic on IE4 anything on a Mac is near zero.
Not the fault of DynAPI but rather poor coding from MS. Reference:

With IE5 on Mac you can dance DHTML in a limited fashion. Create, move,
slide, hide show layers. But anything requiring dynamic sizing and scroll
(x,y) calculations is hampered by bugs in this error. Once again reference
the above compatability matrix.
