Adding to my prior.

You could make a "widget motion watcher".  We know that the left to right
motion on "all" platforms probably happens within (x) time.  You could
create a never-ending counter that advances i++ on every completed "left" or
"right" slide.  A setTimeout could govern this "watcher" and if the "left"
or "right" slide doesn't interate within (x) time it restarts the film
widget anew.
