Hey Matthew,
Here is an example of "floating" that uses my
scrposit widget. It may or may not suit your needs.
The menu portion snaps in to place but the watermarks
slide to the new position. The widget handles all of
the window edge detection and scrollbar detection and
provides a "scroll" function for ns4. Ask if you need
help and want to use it.
