Sure... as long as you don't want cross browser support. Can be done in IE
or NS but haven't found a way to do both.
Best alternative I've found is standard plain text with controls to modify
the CSS in the resulting display (assuming text entry is going into a
dynlayer)

I'll be working on one next, right after I finish my Dropdown selection
widget   ( http://www.marionette-soft.com/dynapi/ ).  There are enough
problems with compatibility between browsers that make the more complex
widgets somewhat difficult.
