Depending on the size of the tree you could 'clear' the tree (remove
children) and simply build it again (and with the new DynAPI
being pretty close to memory-leak free this is a viable solution). This
method has the nifty benefit of not having to embed 'tree-update' logic in
the server side produces javascript. In essence, your server side
javascript would do only ONE thing EVERY time...which is a perfect task for
a server-side script.
