I am looking for a way to make relatively positioned layers act as though they were being created and deleted--that is, actually dissappear and reappear from the flow of the page, but can find only two unsatisfactory options. Setting the visibility on and off makes the layer appear and reappear, but leaves unwanted blank space when the layer is invisible. Actually deleting the layer gets rid of the blank space, but also (as far as I can tell) deletes the layer from memory, so that I can't get it back. Is there a way to get the effect of a deletion and then bring a layer back when it's relatively positioned?
