Doug, thanks, but even this is not working for me. I'm testing inside a
table in Netscape:
...
<td><span class="someClass">some text</span></td>
...
where the table itself is inside a DynLayer. The class has no effect in
Netscape.
Any ideas?

The way I did it was simply to use a <span class=""> element around the text
