Thanks for the suggestions. The menu widget is one I've developed myself. It
does use a lot of layers, but no (large) images are involved. I was thinking
to share the widget with the rest of you, but it's not quite mature yet (a
few minor issues).
I just downloaded a version of IE6 and the heavy memory usage disappeared!!
I'm not 100% satisfied yet, because my friend experienced similar problems
using IE5.5, but I'm gonna settle it for now. I'm thinking it was because he
used the 2.5.3 release of the dynapi.
