Hi,
I guess you're having this problem with IE6?
It's because of:
menu_btn.setBgImage('../gfx/button.gif')

You'll have to do something like this now:
menu_btn.setHTML('<img src="../gfx/button.gif" />')

This is an IE6 bug, no animateable layers with background-image allowed
anymore.
