For example, let's supposed you want a layer to have a form, a few dozen 
pictures, and a submit button, how will you do that? Will you still use 
setHTML()?

I think you need to be more specific.
The rest of us use myLayer.setHTML() to set HTML,
and the layer can still be manipulated just fine.

You are going to have to provide far more details as to your problem before
we can help your.
