Greetings and happy new year! I have been working with DynAPI 2.6 for two weeks now and have run into pretty consistent problems with the include files that I hope you can help me solve.
Often, even though I appear to have given a page the proper path to the include files, I will get errors relating to undefined objects for the objects created on the included Javascript files. As an example, I can have Javascript include files sitting in the exact same directory (src/lib/dynapi/) and the page I have the include links on will recognize the existence of one of the files but not the other. As another example, I can rename a file that is properly recognized by the linked file, modify the include link to include the renamed file and get undefined object errors. Further, if I make any modification to a linked file and resave it under the same name (for example Richard's fasttreenode.js file), I will get undefined object errors. When I first started to try using DynAPI 2.6 (and, in fact, DynAPI 1.0 components), nothing would work because of undefined errors. Then, on a subsequent day, one of the files I had given up on suddenly started to work (I was very surprised because I had tried everything to get it to work . . . all it took was to let it sit for a few days, and suddenly it worked!). So my general question is . . . why might I be experiencing such challenges with getting DynAPI components to function properly? Both of the two possibilities I can think of don't seem to answer the issues I am having entirely. Since I have Richard's fasttreenode.js (as long as I don't change either the file's name or its contents in any way) and a lot of other Javascript and VBScript include files working wonderfully and on the first time (Richard's took a couple of days), I have a hard time understanding how it might be an issue with server cache issues. I have read that sometimes you need to clear the cache on the server to get modifications to include files to operate properly. If this is the issue, how do I clear the cashe on a server hosted by a 3rd party?? The second possiblity deals with the include upon include upon include nature of the DynAPI files, which is different from the other files I have included in the past. But, I have the full DynAPI 2.6 working properly on an implementation of Richard's fasttreenode.js, and you all obviously have no regular issues with this otherwise you would change the API structure. Please help me understand how I can eliminate the tempermental nature of my DynAPI implementation! By the way, I downloaded NS 6.2 today and the Fasttreenode does not show up at all on this browser, but I suspect you already knew that (Will that be supported in 2.7 or 3.0? Ballbark release date?). Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, Your truly, Jerry Hammann _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx _______________________________________________ Dynapi-Help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dynapi-help
