if you let a textarea/input field got the focus you'll
be able to use backspace as well. in the same way,
by letting a <select> have focus it's possible to for
example, create a scrollbar that responds to mousewheel-
events (catching mousewheel-events in normal way 
isn't possible pre ie6 if I remimber correct.

i think it will work even if you put the form-elements inside
a hidden layer, try it.
