I agree with most of Shortie's points. This release, however, is not 
meant to replace the official version but to start a new developing 
branch were new ideas can be testes and played with ( as it happens with 
most of the Open Source projects aout there.)

The current branch is not being dropped nor discontinued ( I'll take 
care of it myself ) so don't worry about older code becoming absolete or 
useless. It won't.

Dan, keep in mind that sometimes people prefer 'uglier' code they are 
used to and has been proven solid rather that switching and learning 
some new one that promises to be better. While trying new things may be 
fun to you, and me, and many others, most people don't feel the same 
way. After all, the users of this library are not us the main developers 
( our skills allow us to do our DHTML without any externel help ) but 
other people with less knowledge or people working in other fiels which 
use this API to make their work easier, not as a coding playground.

This doesn't mean I'm against this new branch, I'm just trying to 
protect the thousands of silent users in this project.
