Did you know that clipping was buggy for DHTMLAPI 2.56? First it doesn't seem to work under Linux. The second problem is with Netscape 4.79. I found out that if you tried to clip a layer once to [0,523,28,424] for example, it will do it correcly. If you try then to clip the same layer to [0,325,28,226] right after, It will be clipped to some incorect values. Run the attached HTML for more details.
