I've checked everywhere I could think of, and can't find a solution to
this one, and I hope you guys can
help. I am currently running Redhat 5.0 and when I try to configure
imlib I get the following error:
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/ginstall -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal... found
checking for working autoconf... found
checking for working automake... found
checking for working autoheader... found
checking for working makeinfo... found
checking host system type... i386-redhat-linux-gnu
checking for ranlib... ranlib
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create executables.
when I check the config.log file, it looks like this:
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
configure:571: checking for a BSD compatible install

configure: failed program was:
#line 939 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
main(){return(0);}
This is the first time I've run a configure script since I installed
Redhat (the work fine in Slackware),
but when I've tried to compile other programs I've gotten the same
/usr/lib/crt1.o message. I checked
Dejanews and found the suggestion that I reinstall glibc-devel, which I
did and nothing changed.
I currently running the latest versions of glibc, glibc-devel, gcc,
binutils, and all the graphics libraries
(I pulled all the RPMs off of rufus.w3.org today), and even tried
restarting my computer (I know, I know, it's
not really necessary, but you never know) and it still doesn't work.
Can anyone help??
Thank you,
Seth.
