| Choosing a proper font + title bar image mix is probably best done

You're right, of course. But a "safety mechanism" that allowed us the use of
more colours will not hurt either. All we need is a border--I don't know
whether a simple one or anti-aliased one would be most appropriate. I've seen
this as a feature in a font server before, and the possibility of having white
fonts on yellow doesn't seem that extreme to me; after all, similar tonalities
in themes are going to be not only prevalent, but probably rampant.
Unfortunately, most people don't have enough colour theory to create a mesh of
tonalities that actually seems readable at the same time with some fonts--most
excessively difficult I can forsee would be the fonts that have many tonalities
in and of themselves.
(Doh!)
I just thought of something. You're absolutely right. If such is the case, a
font can just have said border around each letter because it's just a bitimage
itself. It might not be completely compatible with all themes (if fonts get
shared), but it's a good plan for a Fnlib font designer.
