On 15 Jun, Thomas Charron shouted:
-> I'm curiouse, what type of animation support ran slow? A Sprite animation
-> style really shouldn't take all that much of proccessor time. I'm not sure
-> exactly how slow the redraws would work under a given X server, however.
-> I'd image things like stone rates for the server would come into play..

We wont be doign shaped windows and have them be animated for a
LOOOOOOOOOOONG time.. forget it at leats until E2.0 - this thread pops
up ever month or 3 - the answer is no. no animated anything. The onyl
thing ont he cards is possibly animated root windows (desktop bg's) -
the reason for no animated icons - shaped windows.. the shape extension
is dog slow when it comes to continuously updating somehting at any
framerate whatsoever... and thats on fast machines.. i dont want to
knwo what might happen to slowish machines.... this will wait til E2.0
when either 1. the X shape extension is optimised or 2. We move to
another windowing system (Berlin, Y etc. that doesn thave this problem).
