I'm running E 13.3 with whatever Imlib that went with it without any
problems on my Sparc Ultra 1 box running Solaris 2.5.1 (24-bit mode,
thank you). I have also got Imlib 1.6 to compile and run with the
test program. I suspect that you would have problems getting a
precompiled Imlib to work because of it's dependencies on several
graphics libs. The only advice I can give is to get all of the libs
raster mentions on his site and build them before you attempt to build
Imlib. Also, make sure that the new libs are being loaded and not old
copied lying around somewhere (run truss with your executables to see
that the correct versions of libs are being loaded).
I can run all (that I can think of) the software intended for Linux on
my Sparc box except for the stuff that uses /proc. The /proc
interface in Linux is the greatest thing since Saran Wrap and there is
nothing like it in Solaris (or HP, AIX, ...). Ok, so Solaris has a
/proc directory but the info in there is very limited. So some of the
modules for eplus will not work or will have to be modified to work
with Solaris (i,e the CD and file system stuff).
I suspect that the first versions of E 14 will not be Sparc/Solaris
friendly because Raster and Mandrake are developing on Linux boxes which
provide a much friendlier programming environment than many of the
commerical boxes (mainly Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX).
