The two companies said that http://www.tradecard.com technology, combined with http://www.mastercard.com purchasing cards, databases, and market clout, will produce a single system that can conduct transactions of any size, in any currency, for any type of purchase. The new offering will be able to handle all phases of a transaction, from order placement through financing, fulfillment, and payment. It will be XML-based, so it can be integrated into any Web marketplace, any e-commerce transaction system such as Commerce One or Ariba, any ERP (enterprise resource planning) software such as PeopleSoft or SAP, or any system based on standard EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) protocols such as ANSI X12. Pilot tests are scheduled for the fourth quarter, though no participants have been announced.
