This is 100% correct. The old model Asset Protection Trust should be avoided like the plague by US individuals. There are however, alternatives, and the same may not apply to individuals from other countries. I would however be somewhat concerned about Panama Foundations. The true advantage of the Panama Foundation is that the IRS does not really know how to deal with them. How long this will continue is unknown.
