Let's assume somebody wanted to develop > the ultimate funding system, what would work? Your question provokes us to focus on a major factor inhibiting the growth of e-gold - that there's no common way now to put money into an account fast (as in a matter of minutes instead of hours or more likely, days and weeks). An ironic situation, considering that e-gold is destined for greatness as the currency of the internet. Seems like the solution again rests on establishing a strong linkage between e-gold and traditonal sources of funds. This was the approach used to solve the other half of the equation - the outexchange - where a debit card allows e-gold to be translated into cash dispensed from an ATM. Likewise for the inexchange a special internet account may be required. If such an account is issued by major credit card or financial institutions, or market makers working with such institutions, it already has the advantage of being tied to existing sources of funds. To facilitate instant (even automated) transactions online, the account is protected by a password (just like an e-gold account). To distinguish it from conventional credit card accounts, the internet account should have a low limit (say a maximum of $1000 or a user defined limit). and because of the low limit and password control, be non-reversible (dare we hope it?). Since it is meant for online use only, there is no need to issue a card for this account (why take plastic when there's gold?), but with an online verification system, it can be used to buy e-gold (from market makers) instantly, or any online product for that matter. Of course, with all these features in place, the internet account will also compete for the same business as e-gold, although its service may come at a higher price than e-gold's 50 cents maximum per transaction.
