A couple of weeks ago I flew down to Florida to visit the folks at E-Gold
and specificly to see Jim Ray. I wanted to meet the people running the
organisation that I am building a business around.

My wife and I flew into Melbourne late thurday night and were greeted with
the news that her sister passed away the night before. Needless to say
this put a damper on the trip.

We started early friday with Jim meeting us at the motel and heading out
for breakfast. I learned real quick that Jim LOVES to talk :> Afterwards
we headed over to the E-Gold office. Turns out they are about a mile or
so from the airport and had passed it on the way to the motel.

I received the grand tour and met all the folks. Everyone was great and
all the signs of a growing company were present. I have done enough
startups to be able to spot the difference between growth and hype.

Met with the tech folks for a bit and discussed security and redundency
and am confident that they have a good staff.

After everyone had arrived we had a meeting to discuss future plans for
both myself and E-Gold. I came away from that meeting with a good
understanding of what their core business model is and where I should
focus my business on. You will see some added services from me over the
next couple of months that will help the E-Gold community grow.

Now that everyone was feeling warm and fuzzy it was time to go blast some
holes in paper. Jim, Jay and myself visited the local firing range. I
had brought along several boxes fo .40 cal practice ammo that my wife had
purchased by mistake. I have a .45 and could not use it, so it went to a
good cause ;> We swapped some techniques and drooled over some of the
latest tools in the showcase. All in all a great way to relax.

Next stop was to pick up my wife and to check out the local hooters. It
was Harley night and since my wife and I are bikers we had to go check out
the bikes and have a couple of beers. Hooters girls where great and the
parking lot was full. Could not ask for anything beter.

Later Jim took my wife and I out to an italian place called the Dove.
Nice place and somewhat crowded, but the food was excelent. Jim picked up
a couple of nice cigars for us to enjoy on saturday. He had reserved us
spots on a ship called the Sterling Casino.

We met Jim early and had a quick bite at burger king and hit the road. It
takes an hour or so to get to Port Canaveral from Melbourne, this is where
the casino ship docks. There were several ships there including the new
Disney ship. That thing is HUGE. We have several cruise ships dock
outside my office in Seattle, but this one is bigger.

Anyway, we became part of the herd that boarded the ship. It is an older
ship with 4 floors of casino. Looked pretty similar to most of the
casinos I have been in, lots of slots, craps, blackjack etc...

>From what I understand gambling is not legal in Florida, so these guys put
you on a boat and head out to international waters. Once we were 12 miles
out they turn on the casino. I swear it was a race to see who could loose
money the fastest.

My wife and I like playing slots, we typically will walk around a casino
and hit various machines. With so many people packed in there open
machines were a premium. We decided to hit the free food and then go out
to the stern and enjoy the sunsine. Being from the wet side of Washington
sunshine is somewhat of a bonus for us. Unfortunately we looked like two
ghosts sitting out there, at least for the first hour or so, then we
looked like two lobsters!

When there was about 45 minutes left of the gambling action we hit the
casino again. By this time most folks had deposited their money in the
machines and were now hitting the lounges. We started off with hitting a
couple of 50 and 80 dollar wins, later my wife hit one for $360. By the
time we were done we had won about $300 over what we had brought. All and
all a good day.

After the trip back we decided to make a return visit to hooters. They
had classic car night going on and having nice looking girls in skimpy
outfits bringing me beer seemed like the right thing to do. It was a good
finish for a good trip.
