MMs buy e-gold from wholesalers and then sell to the public, trying
to make a very modest profit.

There are 2 (two) e-gold wholesalers who do this

        (*) Me

        (*) Omnipay

Naturally my rates are better than Omnipay, but Omnipay has a bit more gold.

But it seems that nowadays, any wholesaler (say me) can just buy gold
bars at spot - and then sell as a wholesaler at a very reasonable
markup, to the MMs.

(As you say "Or is this a thing that MMs themselves would be doing?"
obviously, in the long run, the chunks that MMs purchase will become
as large as a 400 oz bar, and then MMs can get egold AT SPOT .. all
of this meaning cheaper rates for retail customers, as everyone
endlessly yells about. Wholesalers would be out of business, but
that's the natural way of the world.)

So yes - the bottom line here is MMs will be able to get e-gold stock
much more cheaply, menaing you, the RETAIL CUSTOMER, wil get a better
deal!

Hell, I'll pool orders from a few MMs and buy a bar at cost for NO
MARK UP just to see if it works.
