Hello all, First, let me say that I have been following this list for about two months, and e-gold itself for about a year. This is my first post to the list. There was a question about the time I joined the list, asking what it would take to make e-gold more mainstream. In my opinion, it needs to be a lot easier to get e-gold to experiment with. I have been triing, off and on, for some time to get a couple grams to play with. Finally, if things go well today, I will have accomplished that. The options that were available to me were: Wire transfer. That means going to the bank (which I do once every 5 years or so, to renew my mortgage) during hours when they are open (which means taking time off work) or too a western union office. The fees associated with this (not to mention the time required) make experimenting with $10 or $20 worth of e-gold very difficult. Credit Cards: Very few exchange providers accept these, and with good reason. I have worked for internet vendors before, and understand the amount of fraud that goes on. The ones that do accept credit cards want you to fill out lots of personal information, and wait a week or two to make sure everything is in order. PayPal: As a non-U.S. citizen, it is difficult to set up a PayPal account. You can not link it to a bank account (except for withdrawals) and to set up a credit card with them, you have to wait until your monthly statement comes in to get the validation number. So, as a person browsing the internet, and discovering e-gold, I would think: Wow, this looks great. Lets try it out! What? It's going to take a month before I can fund the account and try anything? Forget it! My conclusion: Until I can go to the corner convenience store, or pick up the phone, and call my bank, and fund my e-gold account, it will never pass the entusiest level into the main stream. Mark P.S. I tried calling my bank, to transfer funds into the account of an exchange provider that lives in the same country, but was told I had to do that in person. P.P.S. This is not some un-wired country I am talking about. I live in Canada. --- You are currently subscribed to e-gold-list as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Did you know that e-gold Ltd. stores more gold on behalf of customers than many countries?
