When URLs have been known, many of these sites provided links to exchange providers to encourage unsuspecting visitors to fund their accounts and "join immediately!". The "http referrer" variable can reveal popular links. Running a filter over our web logs, removing entries without the "http referrer" (ie visitors who typed our site directly into their browser), also removing links from verified sites (non-hyip, ie directories/search engines etc), I've found that 2% of our visitors are referred by websites I have not visited. Many of the URLs that fall under this 2% appear to be dishonorable. Referrals from discussion group domains (ie yahoo groups) *ARE* included in this 2%. What does this mean exactly? Not a lot really... just some interesting stats. It still doesn't answer any of our questions.
