<end quote> How would anyone outside (or inside) USA have known that??!! And who could verify it? For all anyone knows such numbers could be $5/min scam numbers! I would have thought the proper ordinary numbers for companies with a 1800 number would be an ordinary number in their local area code. Regardless of the verifiability of this number trick, the original poster's point remains. This is one reason why many international customers will not pay for products/services from US companies that ignore the international market. On the other hand, for our own interest, how about a (URL) reference for the substitution of 1880 for 1800, 1881 for 1888, and 1882 for 1777, and for the actual prices for calls to these numbers. (If they are treated like ordinary numbers, then presumably the caller's phone company's standard rates to USA should be the appropriate price.)
