You don't remove it, you "upgrade" it to eliminate a buffer overflow (which should not have ever been there in the first place, IMNSHO). The important thing is to do it NOW!! There WILL be a 'script-kiddie' way to exploit this flaw, VERY soon, if my bet is correct (and nobody *ever* seems to want to bet against me on stuff like this...sigh!).
