>So e-gold buys 400oz bars of gold in advance of demand. Is that
>right? How much is a 400oz bar, btw?
you're mixing up e-gold and OMNIPAY, dude.
e-gold is "pure" - it's just a accounting system for however much
gold "is there" if there's 2899 ounces of physical gold there
there's 2889 ounces in the e-gold database.
OMNIPAY is where the slush happens. Doug & Jim - god bless them -
buy a bar or two "in advance" and put in in to the egold system ok?
So at that moment the OMNIPAY act has shitloads of ounces in it. that's it!
e-gold per se can't be "out of balance", by definition
400 oz bars cost about a hundred grand. As you have probably heard
endlessly, "400 oz' is JUST A NAME, "400 oz" bars have utterly no
relationship whatsoever to "400 ounces" (the measurement)
>See, I would have thought that they wait until they accumulate
>enough money to buy a 400oz bar, and only then buy it.
Nowadays i would imagine Omni has fast enough turn over they can
"take the risk" and just buy 'em speculatively, like a donut shop
guessing how many to make in the morning.
