If I was to get handed a pint of beer in a pub which only had 16 fluid 
ounces in it, I'd hand it straight back and ask for the rest of it - we 
have 20 fluid ounces to the pint over here...

hence the UK saying "a pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter"
