Also, with major retail chains (WalMart, Old Navy etc.) there is a 
lot of reputation capital there.

Finally there's the very simple experiency of keeping one "everyday" 
account for shopping, and not keeping your main stash there.

And post-finally, third parties would develop that check out the 
honesty of the retail chains, and even insure you against "pin theft" 
type of fraud!
