Dear Friends,

Daniel sent two packets of coffee beans to me for
my order (by e-gold, of course). They arrived a
few days ago, but in the press of other business
went into the freezer.

Yesterday, I took out the bag marked "continental."
After grinding the coffee, the whole kitchen was
filled with a remarkable aroma. As you probably
know, the olfactory sense is deeply embedded in
brain tissue. Certainly a survival trait, scents
are able to bring up memories of the distant past.
No doubt this helped our game-hunting ancestors
remember which animal they were scenting and how
best to track it down and butcher it.

Anyway, I was instantly transported through space
and time to my parents' kitchen in the Sixties.
The smell of this coffee was exactly the same as
some very fine Brazilian coffee my parents were
enjoying - when I was three.

Not to belabor the point further, I made this batch
of ground coffee into espresso, shot some steam
into my favorite density of milk, and had one
satisfying mug filled past the brim with Capulin
cappucino. Most important, it was worth doing
again later in the day. ("A thing worth doing is
worth over doing!" wrote Heinlein.)

Better still, the coffee comes with all its
caffeine intact. There really is nothing more
satisfying than that wide-awake feeling of
espresso in the morning. The memory of it is
calling me back to the kitchen...no, wait, it's
a tiny voice from inside my freezer shouting
"drink me!" <grin>

I'm going to enjoy some fresh coffee from the
folks at http://www.capulin.com/ now. Do thou
likewise.

Regards,

Jim
