What do you need Customer Service for? ...
John, as with any web site, you get a surprising amount of people emailing asking questions. You can't not have a help desk. Also, with any business, there is no end of small matters to tend to -- for instance, paying Amazon, etc.
If it was all automated, what did you need staff for?
