This is how E-gold can be *combined* with a repudiable system: Normally, egold is not repudiable, but each SCI payment link can contain one more field, like this (note the "REP"): "http://799551-USD10-REP.e-gold.com". This way, the seller specifies to the E-gold system that he accepts repudiable egold. In such a case, E-gold charges the payer 5-10% (instead of nothing when the payment is non repudiable); the extra charge can be used to cover the losses of the merchants. I guess, the extra charge can be increased for people who order "too many" chargebacks, or even forbidden to issue a chargeback.
It is also possible to specify, in the payment link, a number of days after which the egold payment becomes non repudiable, like in (note "REP5"): "http://799551-USD10-REP5.e-gold.com". When someone pays using such a payment link, the E-gold system says that the payment is repudiable. The system would also allow the payer to choose between using the repudiable method (in which case he would pay that extra 5%), or the normal non repudiable method (in which case he doesn't pay anything extra). So, now you can pay with egold, with a repudiable system, and no one has to pay higher fees because someone else wants a repudiable system. It depends on what both parties agree on. This is the system that combines all advantages... and you don't have to create a new system, cards, paper work... or anything for that matter! But I doubt E-gold will burden themselves with this. Maybe JRW can tell his side of the story on this... I see Danny Van den Berghe thought of something similar. P.S. There is no such thing as "per say"! It is "per se". ...
