Cambist.net is an operating unit of Gold Barter Holdings. Gold Barter Holdings was founded by Tristan Petersen and Jim Davidson in July 2000.
Cambist.net was registered as a domain about February 2001. The company had already been conducting exchanges from e-gold to GoldMoney and back as early as December 2000.
Cambist.net introduced the first automated exchange system later in 2001. However, for various reasons, the company now performs all digital to digital exchanges manually.
The opportunity to expand operations into US dollars to gold exchange arose at the very end of 2001, and Gold Barter Holdings made its commitment to "fiat to digital" exchange in early 2002 - the first week of January. The results were explosive. Revenues went through the roof, and profits began showing up first quarter 2003. The company has now posted two successive quarters of profit. Second quarter profits amounted to a bit more than half a cent per share.
