Hello everyone -- first of all I want to let you know that an update to
the atm card comparison chart will be out soon.

I will be lowering the reputation number for cashcards.net to the lowest

BTW Joseph, I am in a similar situation. I funded a card with $290 two days ago on 8-Jul. I went to the ATM this afternoon and no money was on the card.

What a fun experience this is going to be -- this may just be the VERY FIRST TIME I have lost money in this wacky world of internet gold and related products. I figured it was going to happen someday. We'll see -- I may yet get my $290. Please Steve Renner and company, please give me my $290. Pretty please with sugar on top?

1) A free card was offered to me for evaluation. It never arrived. Only
after I sent a reminder (3 weeks later) did it finally show up.

I had a very similar experience here.

2) The website is practically useless. When you are actually able to
connect to it, it is confusing and does not provide you with the most
basic instructions that you need to navigate the system.

This too I found difficult. I did eventually figure out the V-Cash / Cashcards connection, but I expected it to be obvious so I didn't venture much brainpower at first.

3) It is never mentioned that cashcards requires a US$10 minimum account
of V-cash be maintained at all times, until you have actually put money
into the system (with the claimed 100,000+ customers, that's over a
million dollars to sit on).

Yes, I finally discovered that and thought OK, here's a bit of what we called "breakage" in the phone debit card industry -- free shards of money lying around here and there. I thought, OK fine, Cashcards doesn't charge a monthly fee so what the heck, they can have $10 of my money.

4) I funded my V-cash account from e-gold without any problem. The balance
was properly displayed and fees taken out accordingly. However,

Right, same here.

5) I attempted to load my ATM card from the V-cash account. The money was
deducted from my V-cash balance, but it has never appeared on my ATM card.

OK, that did NOT happen to me the first time. I funded the card with $200 and it did appear on the card within a day or two I think -- I couldn't get to an ATM the day after so I might have waited an extra day. I actually posted a good report of this experience on the e-gold list. I was oh so very pleased to get my $200.

6) Attempts to check the ATM balance online through the cashcard's website
failed for several days (requests simply "time out").

HOW DO YOU DO THIS???? I am logged into the cashcards.net website now and I do not see any way to check the card's balance!!

I can see all kinds of crap like "Downline," "Sales Report," "Childrens Network," and "Banners," but I don't see anything about checking a card balance.

Now, you know what I LIKE? I like the E-bullion debit card. You can check your card balance either by calling a toll free number or going to http://www.cashlynk.com and logging in with the card number and pin. AND the funding from your E-bullion account always seems to happen by the next business day, just like clockwork. AND there's no minimum balance or large fees (as I recall it's just an ordinary e-bullion transaction fee). AND it's really easy to use.

I'll probably get better and cheaper results using Cambist.net to convert e-gold to e-bullion, and then funding the e-bullion card, compared to using cashcards. I haven't worked out the math but peace of mind is definitely worth something.

7) When the ATM balance check finally went through, it showed an ATM
balance of $0 -- the money I had transerred to it simply disappeared!

Darn, how do you do that? I wish I was as smart as you. Checking the ATM balance online -- what a concept. I looked through the FAQ to no avail. Don't see anything under Childrens Network either. Doggone it.

8) I wrote a polite letter of inquiry to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
received absolutely no response.

I haven't gotten to this point yet.

9) I wrote a frustrated letter of inquiry to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
received absolutely no response.

Uh oh, I haven't gotten to this point yet either.

10) I write an angry letter of inquiry to cashcards.net and received
absolutely no response.

Gulp. <voice=weak_beseeching_tone> I sure hope I get my money. </voice>

11) My money is gone, the ATM card doesn't work, and inquiries are going
100% unanswered.

Uh oh.

... I have been told repeatedly
that cashcards was a reputable firm, but my experience has been that it is
either a completely incompetent business or a complete scam.

I would like my money back. All of it. But I'm not going to waste any more
time or keystrokes on cashcards.net, and my suggestion to others is to
avoid the problems, and avoid cashcards.net.

Yeah, I've heard they were reputable too, and my first experience was reasonably good. I'm sure I'll get my money (repeating that to self over and over ...)
