Dear Craig,

E-gold can be redeemed for gold. Which is another way of
saying that e-gold is NOT gold. It is something that can be
redeemed for gold.

Fair enough. I would, though, wish to contrast it with other things which are not redeemable for gold, such as Federal Reserve Notes, or which are known to have falsely claimed to be or implied that they are redeemable for gold such as OSGold.

A case in point would be INTGold. I am uncertain whether
there is any gold to it. I am clear that there is no
stated process for redeeming INTGold into actual gold.

So, I prefer to differentiate between systems which are
gold, where there is really gold involved, and systems
which don't involve gold, except in the name.

Regards,

Jim
