Credit cards are expensive compared to e-gold. As well, credit card purchases are reversible transactions at the whim of the credit card holder. Moreover, credit card information is stolen far more often on a daily basis than e-gold account information. Stolen credit cards used for any purchase makes that purchase repudiable, which is bad for the merchant.
There is an "installed user base" of 300 million credit card users, or so. However, the digital gold currency user base is nearing two million across four major currencies.
I think more can be done to expand the user community for digital gold.
