For physical real money solutions, there is always the American Liberty Dollar ( http://www.norfed.org ) While lacking the 1:1 ratio between value and underlying bullion that e-gold and other DGC's offer, it is a functional physical currency in a form preferable to fiat currency.
Paper certificates and the eLD (digital version) are fully redeemable for gold and/or silver, and of course the gold and silver coins are available directly. Plus there are several established "pockets" (mostly in the U.S.) where the ALD is accepted by a broad range of merchants. There are also many online merchants who accept the digital ALD, or mailed remittance of physical coin or certificates. http://www.gold-pages.net features several, and more can be found by perusing the largest unofficial ALD forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ald-forum or my own at http://groups.yahoo.com/yetanotherald A means of transferring e-gold physically (albeit somewhat awkward) is to generate DMT DBC's denominated in e-gold (or for that matter e-palladium, e-platinum or e-silver, all of which are supported by the DMT/ALTA platform) and store them as .txt files on some form of media, such as 3.5" disks or memory sticks, or even as printed out files (the DBC's resemble a PGP key when printed) to be later scanned via OCR application or entered manually for redemption. This of course would only work for a limited number of people at the current time, as it would require someone who is familiar with and trusts 1) e-gold, 2) the DMT, and 3) you. But it's a way to get it done, absent more convenient and/or more broadly applicable methods.
