James, You have mentioned some very good points. We are trying to get the formula right.
We are based in Germany but service worldwide. Our fees were calculated in USD as we have been led to believe this to be most common for e-currency. However we can and will accomodate most major currencies. As for our fees, our accounts feature services such as check writing, free debit card, etc. Just as you may find with many traditional banking accounts. We also are hoping to avoid general classification as a "exchange provider" since our focus is more on banking services. We always value fresh opinions so again James, thanks for your comments. Katia DGCBank www.dgcbank.com From: "James M. Ray" Interesting. The FAQ says they're not an exchange service, but maybe they need to rephrase that, since they appear to offer dollar denominated plastic cards to account holders, presumably in exchange for spends that will settle in grams, at least in the case of e-gold. If grams come in and dollars go out, they're doing an exchange business whether or not the FAQ says it, IMO. They also say (but not in the FAQ, in their terms of service) they "(offer) banking services...in accordance with the regulations of the European Union," but don't mention a specific country in the EU (maybe it's Germany, though). I'm totally-ignorant about EU banking regulations, but with service-fees of $25 a month it is going to take a high balance on premium accounts just to break even at 2.8%/year interest. (I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I much-prefer this to outlandish promises, I'm just saying the fees might be unattractive to average customers compared with just keeping their balances at e-gold or one of the others.)
