hi svgisp & list,

to deliver digital goods online using the e-gold SCI you would
normally use a custom STATUS_URL CGI to process notifications
from e-gold. only upon successful notification from e-gold (including
V2_HASH checking) would the digital goods be presented to the user.

if you aren't up to writing (or better yet paying a professional to
write) a custom CGI - or are limited to only hosting HTML pages - you
have to work within your limitations. the e-gold sample store:

http://www.e-gold.com/samplestore/samplestore.html

provides one way this can be done. viewing source on the page easily
leads to the payment URL, *however* that URL uses client side javascript
code to only produce a valid link to the downloadable product if fed
the appropriate information from form data found in the e-gold SCI continue
button.

another way - which loses the immediate gratification factor - is to use
the email notification feature of the e-gold SCI and manually check and
process the orders.

each character offset by a fixed random digit which is stored in the first
position of the resulting string.
