What You Need To Know About Today
>From Matt Law, your Editor and Guide

--------------------------- EDITOR'S NOTE ----------------------------

I think it's safe to say that my coworkers and I have a pretty good time at
work each day. There's a lot of friendly banter shot back and forth, much of
it focusing on the political news of the day. My immediate colleagues
generally share the same beliefs as mine, but there are few people from the
other side of the aisle floating around the office. While they may be
politically misdirected, they're generally harmless and any conversations we
have are mainly civil. It works out pretty well, but not all offices can say
the same.

Nix Political Discussion at Work
-Human Resources Guide Susan M. Heathfield
It's important to work in a place where you and your coworkers are at
liberty to freely express thoughts and ideas. However, this can become a
problem when the discussion turns to politics. Human Resources Guide Susan
M. Heathfield says limiting speech in the office or at the job site is a
fine line, but one that has to be walked at some point.

Politics and Job Searching
-Job Searching Guide Alison Doyle
Going for a job interview in the near future? It would probably be wise to
remove your Kerry 2004 pin or your Bush-Cheney baseball cap. Job Searching
Guide Alison Doyle says it's not a good idea to show your political hand
while trying to impress potential employers.

Quietly Get Your Political Fix
If you're sitting at work right now holding your tongue to prevent yourself
from gabbing about the election, you should check out Taking Sides, About's
Election 2004 blog. Lefty Alison and Righty Wendy are going head to head as
each tries to make their case for their chosen candidate. Read recent posts
on the future of Iraq, the economy and the personal appearance of both John
Kerry and George W. Bush.
