There is no current way to modify the RETA registers from within the driver. Please post patches / ideas to [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you start to work on this because the generic steering mechanism should be written in the kernel, and the driver should implement specifics for the hardware.
You could prototype something just in driver, but the real interest is making changes that could benefit everyone be done in common kernel space. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Matthew Faulkner Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2008 4:16 AM To: Brandeburg, Jesse Cc: e1000-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [E1000-devel] ixgbe RSS Hey Jesse, Thanks for the reply - i have read that the table changes are possible within windows, but i've not seen any mention within linux. Is this the case? If this is the case i plan on implementing such an ability. thanks Matt 2008/9/15 Brandeburg, Jesse <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Sorry for the top post, our windows drivers support RSS table changes on > the fly, so it should work, but I personally haven't tried it within the > context of the Linux driver. > > Jesse > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Matthew > Faulkner > Sent: Monday, September 15, 2008 2:12 AM > To: e1000-devel@lists.sourceforge.net > Subject: [E1000-devel] ixgbe RSS > > Hey all, > > I currently purchased two intel 10gbe cards and wanted to start > playing with the RSS feature of these cards.
