I'm actually not sure how to relate netperf localhost throughput to 10GbE throughput. I ran it on one of my machines that I know can send at 9.4Gb/s (don't know about bidirectional) and got it’s a quad core client machine (ICH9) r...@jbrandeb-ich9b linux-2.6]# netperf -T0,0 -C -c TCP STREAM TEST from 0.0.0.0 (0.0.0.0) port 0 AF_INET to localhost (127.0.0.1) port 0 AF_INET : cpu bind Recv Send Send Utilization Service Demand Socket Socket Message Elapsed Send Recv Send Recv Size Size Size Time Throughput local remote local remote bytes bytes bytes secs. 10^6bits/s % S % S us/KB us/KB 87380 16384 16384 10.00 6188.48 25.33 25.33 1.341 1.341 [r...@jbrandeb-ich9b linux-2.6]# netperf -T0,1 -C -c -P0 87380 16384 16384 10.00 5319.13 42.14 42.14 2.596 2.596 [r...@jbrandeb-ich9b linux-2.6]# netperf -T0,2 -C -c -P0 87380 16384 16384 10.00 10333.59 42.78 42.78 1.357 1.357 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Register Now & Save for Velocity, the Web Performance & Operations Conference from O'Reilly Media.
