Hi,

I use the Intel NIC 82546GB. In Intel Software Developer’s
Manual of Gigabit Ethernet Controllers (8254x_GBe_SDM.pdf), there is talk
of
memory region where Receive Descriptors point at.

My Question:
Where in the driver, is the point, where memory regions are reserve
for the NIC?
Can I read out where are exactly this areas?
Does exists different regions for receive and transmit?

In "Understanding_Linux_Network_Internals" I read, that the function
request_region can use for memory reservation, but in the e1000e driver
the function only use for kernel versions lower 2.4.3.

Thanks in advance.

Andreas
