OK but can you as part of getting the stats get the output from
/proc/interrupts? Maybe even looking at the interrupt load before and during
the test?
Is there any value in trying an earlier kernel version or is that unlikely the
source of the problem?
Not yet. Let's look at the stats first.
Is there any value in trying to reproduce the problem using multicast streams
under Windows (we would have to install a new HD and install windows to do
this)?
Same as above, let's see what the stats are telling us. The packets had to go
somewhere.
