Hi,

I am working with the Intel Quad Gigabit ethernet board based on the 82546 v3, 
Linux 2.6.18-194.el5, x86_64  and e1000-8.0.19 driver.

There are two MACs on the Intel 82546, each handles 2 Gb ports. I found out 
that when pumping full-rate traffic at 64 bytes/packet, no flow control, each 
MAC engine can only handle 1 Gb port without dropping packets.

Is this the limitation of the 82546 ? Is there any new chip from Intel (82580 
?) that can handle quad Gb ports at 64 byte/packet without dropping packet ?
