Sorry to repost this, but I wanted to see if with a different email address
[that does not get digitally signed] mailman actually will actually process my

Hi,
I am using e1000e on my Sony Notebook VAIO VPCZ1:
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LC Gigabit Network
Connection (rev 05)
kernel + params:
[ 0.000000] Linux version 2.6.38.8-nogo-pixel (root@seven) (gcc
version 4.4.5 (Gentoo 4.4.5 p1.2, pie-0.4.5) ) #6 SMP Fri Jun 17
14:05:41 EDT 2011
[ 0.000000] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/kernels/actual drm.debug=0x04
resume=swap:/dev/md126p6 i915.modeset=1 i8042.nopnp i8042.reset
i8042.nomux i8042.noloop i915.powersave=1 usbcore.autosuspend=1
e1000e.SmartPowerDownEnable=1 snd_hda_intel.power_save=1
And if needed: The kernel config: http://tormen.pastebin.com/HXYbjNvA
I noticed that when I unplug my AC adapter while the network cable is
plugged,
I get these via my netplugd:
Jun 17 17:19:42 [netplugd] eth0: state ACTIVE flags 0x00011043
UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,10000 -> 0x00001003
UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST
Jun 17 17:19:42 [netplugd] /etc/netplug.d/netplug eth0 out -> pid 10755
Jun 17 17:19:42 [netplugd] eth0: state OUTING pid 10755 exited status 0
Jun 17 17:19:45 [netplugd] eth0: state INACTIVE flags 0x00001003
UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST -> 0x00011043
UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,10000
Jun 17 17:19:45 [netplugd] /etc/netplug.d/netplug eth0 in -> pid 11550
Jun 17 17:19:45 [netplugd] eth0: state INNING pid 11550 exited status 0
...and vice-versa when I plug my AC adapter back in:
Jun 17 17:21:01 [netplugd] eth0: state ACTIVE flags 0x00011043
UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,10000 -> 0x00001003
UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST
Jun 17 17:21:01 [netplugd] /etc/netplug.d/netplug eth0 out -> pid 11980
Jun 17 17:21:01 [netplugd] eth0: state OUTING pid 11980 exited status 0
Jun 17 17:21:04 [netplugd] eth0: state INACTIVE flags 0x00001003
UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST -> 0x00011043
UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,10000
Jun 17 17:21:04 [netplugd] /etc/netplug.d/netplug eth0 in -> pid 12773
Jun 17 17:21:04 [netplugd] eth0: state INNING pid 12773 exited status 0
Notice also the 3 seconds delay between the disconnect and re-connect.
What causes these events [like why is there a disconected event even
though I did not touch the network cable]? - Is it maybe because the
network-card is changing from full-power to power-save [and back]?
And is it normal that this interrupts my network connections everytime
for 3 seconds?
Thanks a lot for any hint/advise/explanation!!
Knuth
