Also, for ethtool to report "no such device" it means that the driver did not come up. This is not shown in the dmesg. So something is wrong with the configuration. The ethtool command needs to return information and since it's not, this is probably what is causing the no traffic problem as well.
Can you get me the output from: lsmod ifconfig -a I want to see all the interfaces the system thinks is there and what drivers are loaded. Thanks.
