Hello According to the Intel Application Note AP-446 (http://download.intel.com/design/network/applnots/an446.pdf), there is a "Compatibility Fields" (Word 03h) containing a "Server Design" (10) and a "Client Design" (9) bit.
As far as i can see, none of these bits are actually used in the e1000 driver. What is the precise meaning of these bits? Are they used to distinguish between the Desktop and Server version of Intel network adapters or are they just remnants of a time long ago?
